Inspirational Quotes

"And what feeds me? It's work to that end.  Work to spark a new conversation about what we need to achieve our vision in the 21st century - a vision that includes well-educated, well-valued, well-respected teachers of young children who are role models for young people seeking meaningful careers.  And what feeds me is encouraging a new wave of leaders and activists that our field - and our country - so sorely need." - Dr. Marcy Whitebook

"Regardless of the history of IQ tests in the family, if I see nurturing, warm, interactive people who read emotional signals well and interact well, usually I see happy, competent and bright children." - Dr. Stanley Greenspan

“It was the most joyful experience where I felt that everything within me was being called on to teach.  It was also very rewarding.  It made me feel whole.”  Louise Derman-Sparks talking about her first job in early education.
“My passion comes from wanting to make a difference.  I truly believe that I am not here to save the world.  I am here to just make a difference in the community that I am working.  To me, making a difference may sometimes mean helping one child be able to be successful in the classroom.”  Raymond Hernandez, MS Ed

Favorite Childrens Book: Try Try Again

Product Details

I read anywhere between 4-12 books each night to my boys.  I always start out by saying "we are only reading 4 books tonight."  And each time we finish the 4th book, they beg for one more.  Since I am a complete sucker for my boys, I give in everytime.  This is one of our favorites because it teaches kids that they can accomplish anything if they try.  The illustrations are great (it includes children of different cultural backgrounds and physical challenges) and the story flows well with rhyming verses.  My boys typically pay more attention to books that rhyme. My favorite line from the book is "Nothing can stop you or topple you when, you are firmly determined to try, try again.

Confused?!

This is the first blog I have ever created so it is taking me a while to get everything set up.  I still have a long way to go!  I am not tech-savvy, but luckily my husband is.  Hopefully he can help me figure this out.  I have to admit, I am not a fan of this type of communication.  It is too time consuming and I am not sure anyone is reading it anyway.  I don't even have a Facebook page!  I had a Facebook page 2 years ago, but I just got fed up with seeing pictures of what people were having for lunch and pictures of new manicures.  I deleted the page and never went back.  Unfortunately, it seems like everything we do now requires you to have a Facebook page.  I may start another one, but I will probably have less than 50 people on it (and all of those folks will more than likely be family members).  I am going to try to update my profile now and link to some of the other blogs in the class.  Good night!
